Whole-Heart Liberia seeks to empower young Liberians to work to build grassroots peace.
Last updated: August 2016

Whole-Heart Liberia works with young people to re-awaken the spirit of being a true and patriotic Liberian. Its focus is on raising a new generation of Liberians that are prepared for the advancement of peace and development in Liberia.

Since its formation, Whole-Heart has worked to develop a wide scope with deliberate goals to establish conduits, gates and vessels for the release of potential while empowering young Liberians to work to build grassroots peace. Whole-Heart emphasises transforming the mind-set of youth from dependent to independent while providing opportunities for people to function as human beings rather than resources in the productive process.

Whole-Heart aims to provide opportunities for each Liberian to develop to their fullest potential while at the same time helping them to treat each other as persons with complex set of needs. Addressing those needs is an important element of the organisation's work.

Activities

Since 2013, Whole-Heart have been conducting training for elementary school teachers from in Paynesville, and other parts of rural Montserrado county. In all, two hundred and fifty teachers have been reached with training.

In 2015, Whole-Heart contributed to community peacebuilding by bringing together thirty children between the ages of eight to twelve years old, from different communities, and training them to perform community service and to conduct peer mediation activities. These children are now actively involved with helping to resolve conflict in their homes, schools and communities.

The most remarkable aspect of Whole-Heart work is the fact that the organisation targets the most vulnerable in the community for assistance. Working in the Paynesville suburbs especially a community like the Red Light area, noted for poverty, crime and all forms of abuse, Whole-Heart contributes to changing lives of people desperately in need.
