“Cooperation for Peace and Progress” (CPP) is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation, which was established in May, 2014. CPP’s main programs and activities are focused in the fields of Conflict Analysis and Reconciliation, Civil Rights and Liberty, Rethinking Soviet History etc. The organization was founded on the platform of “Youth Study Group of Abkhazian and South Ossetian Issues”, which was functional between 2012-2014 and has implemented a wide range of activities, including round-table meetings, lecture-discussions, simulations games, film screening etc. The initiative group had also been publishing a weekly brief, thereby providing a short and concise analysis of developments in the conflict regions of Georgia.

In order to widen the scope of its activities, in 2014 the initiative group was transformed into a non-profit CSO – Cooperation for Peace and Progress (CPP). Up to date, CPP has mainly focused its activities in the area of informal education. The organization has organized a number of educational workshops on various topics, such as civil activism and engagement, religious tolerance and pluralism, minority issues, etc. CPP has been very active in implementing projects aimed at rethinking the Soviet past of Georgia. Series of lectures and discussions, collection of oral stories, intense training courses for more than 150 youngsters have contributed to debunking Soviet myths and prejudices and fostering critical discussions in the local community.

In the conflict area CPP has remained committed to awareness raising activities. The organization has organized a number of sessions about conflict issues, with the participation of Minister of Reconciliation and Civil Equality, Deputy Minister of Euro-Atlantic Integration, academics and other relevant practitioners, thereby giving opportunity to up to 100 students to discuss current challenges in Abkhazia and South Ossetia. In 2017, in partnership with Generations for Peace and with the support of “Inti Raymi Fund” CPP has conducted a seminar to popularize the idea of peace education and support the UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security.
