Convinced that the problem of the Sahel is not political but economic, the association "The Well of the Desert", intervenes in Niger in the field of water supply, education and health, for 14 years.
It has set up a "Security and Development" program for the nomadic and sedentary populations in northern Niger. By accompanying the Tuareg populations of the Tidène Valley, economically; by providing them with quality water nearby, the association enables them to develop agricultural activities, generate income, improve their health, free them from water fetching and allow children to go to school; they have no reason to want to go into exile and claim certain rights they have - which pacifies the area and consolidates peace. The impact in terms of security and pacification of the area seems today real and allows to have a positive appreciation of the project.
In the end, nearly 12,000 people are involved in this peacebuilding process
