Future Generations offers a Leaders for Peace Specialization

This specialization in the Master of Arts degree prepares students to lead change toward a noteworthy end: grow peace by “supporting the good guys” rather than the usual peace approach of “going after the bad guys.”

This is a positivist degree—it gives skills to bring communities together to oppose destructive dynamics otherwise tearing them apart. Students will learn skills and gain knowledge to work from the inside-out to identify and grow seeds of peace. In growing these seeds, communities strengthen where social fabric was once tattering.

Students in this degree specialization are typically educators and leaders who want to grow just and whole community life. They seek to use social science research, apply methods of community engagement, and learn path-breaking modes of communication in order to promote peace and transform conflict.

This specialization builds off the legacy of Kathryn W. Davis, a longtime champion of peace and founder of the Davis Project for Peace.
