Global Citizens United (CGI) was founded in 2012. CGI is a pioneering organisation which empowers young global citizens from all sectors of society to be lifelong leaders of positive change. The CGI fellowship convenes 28 talented high school students from around the world to tackle global issues in their communities. 

The Fellowship kick off with CGI's flagship nine-day program, the Global Citizens Youth Summit. Phillips Exeter Academy and Harvard faculty lead Fellows in discussing global issues, while design thinking experts introduce Fellows to the human-centric approach to problem solving. Fellows then use their learnings to design a strategy for tackling global issue. 

Over the next nine months, Fellows collaborate with individual Mentors to implement their projects as part of the second phase of the Fellowship: The Global Mentorship. Mentors are volunteers from the business community with significant experience in project design and implementation. At the end of the nine months, GCI Ambassadors collectively addressing a myriad of issues around the world such as pollution, education and poverty.
