Middle East Foundation for Development and Human Rights (MEFDHR) is an independent legal institution of civil society, working for the promotion and protection of human rights and peacebuilding. It was created in 2009.
Activities
During the past 7 years that MEFDHR has carried out activities directly involving 2000 young men and women and targeting 200,000 young people. These activities have focused on awareness of civic education, human rights and transitional justice. Workshops have included discussions on state-building and drafting a constitution with journalist working democratic and civil dialogue and building positive relationships between youth leaders of different parties and activating the role of civil society organizations.
These activities resulted in the selection of three activists to participate in the national dialogue conference.
Partners
- Working with with the Generations Without Borders (local) and Moa'al network (Arab - Egypt) formed a partnership to provide a report on the human rights of the universal periodic review mechanism of the United Nations UPZ.
- The head of economic and social rights team attended the discussion on economic and social rights report to the Human Rights Council in Geneva.
- Contributed to the creation of a civilian network to promote civil work consisting of 100 organizations with support from USAID.
- The MEFDHR works to support its programs with international partners, including the Future Foundation and the Arab Fund for Human Rights, the Canadian program, NDI, the Dutch Embassy, the High Commissioner for Human Rights office in Yemen.
