The Child Rehabilitation Centre (CRC)  provides assistance to women and children affected by war. It is a a non-governmental organisation with no political or religious affiliation and it works with Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim citizens. It started its activities in 1998 but it was officially registered in 2003.

The Centre promotes children rights, organising awareness raising events in local communities and providing support to children affected by war. It also works on women empowerment, providing self-employment guidance and managing credit and savings groups. Furthermore, CRC is a resource centre providing peacebuilding and conflict transformation training.

Although its main focus is on women and children’s rights, the organisation provides general support to communities that were affected by war and it works to improve the life standards of the population, facilitate their recovery from trauma and engage them in the reconciliation process.

The organisation operates mainly in the Ampara district at the moment, but it collaborates with groups and individuals based also in other parts of the island.
