The West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP) is a leading regional peacebuilding organisation founded in 1998 in response to the civil wars that plagued West Africa in the 1990s.

Over the years, WANEP has succeeded in establishing strong national networks in every member state of ECOWAS, and has over 500 member organisations across West Africa. The organisation opened in Guinea Bissau in 2005.

WANEP places special focus on collaborative approaches to conflict prevention and peacebuilding, working with diverse actors from civil society, governments, inter-governmental bodies, women groups and other partners in a bid to establish a platform for dialogue, experience sharing and learning, thereby complementing efforts at ensuring sustainable peace and development in West Africa and beyond.

WANEP-GB's vision is to have a peaceful Guinea-Bissau and a peaceful sub-region where dialogue, human dignity, health, democracy, and respect for human rights prevail for the construction of a conscience related to peace and sustainable development.

WANEP-GB's mission is to contribute to the establishment of mechanisms of management and conflict prevention in order to make it possible to attenuate the violent conflicts through dialogue and non-violent solutions, therefore contributing to the consolidation of peace, national reconciliation and the socio-economic rebuilding of Guinea-Bissau and the countries of the sub-region.
