EducommunicAfrik is a non-profit media organisation run for and by young people. It was created in 2012 as an extension of the Association Burkinabè pour la Promotion de l’Educommunication (Burkinabe Association for the Promotion of Edu-communication).
The organisation is run by coordinator Cyrille Guell, whose work with young people and the media has been recognised at the Young African Awards. EducommunicAfrik's overall goal is to promote education, in particular around gender issues, in order to help improve people's awareness and understanding of the role of the media.
EducommunicAfrik runs initiatives to help children and young people develop their understanding of media, technology and new forms of communication in order to promote their rights and highlight their points of view. This is carried out in the context of the broader themes of peace, democracy, good governance and sustainable development which are at the forefront of debate in Burkina Faso.
EducommunicAfrik is a membre of the UNESCO Global Alliance on Media and Gender, which is committed to promoting a gender-inclusive media environment, enabling the full access to and participation of women in the media. Since December 2014, it has also represented the Network of African Youth for Development in Burkina Faso.
