Idara Baraye Taleem-o-Taraqi (IBT) works on peace and development programs with the marginalised linguistic communities in north Pakistan

Last updated: August 2021

Idara Baraye Taleem-o-Taraqi (IBT) works on peace and development programs with the marginalized linguistic communities in north Pakistan. The organisation was established in 2007, with the aim to promote integrated and inclusive development. It looks at ways to solve conflicts and bring peace, with an approach based on local indigenous wisdom and traditions.

In 2011, IBT held an Indigenous Culture Festival called “Simaam” (dignity), to look at how to solve tension between clans, tribes and communities.IBT also works with the youth and hold seminars, study circles and literary sessions with them on values like social peace, ethnic harmony, pluralism and celebration of diversity. IBT also prepares youth through such learning and networking for peace and consequently reduce the potential for radicalism and indoctrination.
