The Center for Peace and Reconciliation (CPR) is based in Jaffna, in the North of Sri Lanka. They work with victims of the war such as school children, teachers, war widows, orphans and people who have been economically marginalised due to war. Their main purpose is to create a safe community for all ethnicities to live in harmony and peace and as such have several programs providing psychological support and livelihood support to those who have became the victim of the violence, and providing training non-violent communication (NVC).

CPR has conducted training for more than 1,000 students from 55 schools,  25 school teachers, and 30 school principals and deputy principals, in Thenmaratchi and Valikamam.

Since they have been working on providing psychosocial support for people in northern area of the country, they have realized that it is important to enhance their skills in relevant areas and develop skills of the staff members to provide a better service to their beneficiaries.

And also they think that it is important to widen their ability to respond to the large scale of service requests they are receiving everyday and they found it is as a better sign for them to enhance their working areas in future. Through their work they have realised the potential of non-violent communication as a tool for people vulnerable to conflict situations and for bringing healing and reconciliation to those affected by conflict.
