
The crackdown on local peacebuilding in Pakistan
Since the 2011 US-led operation that led to the death of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan, the Pakistani government launched a mass crackdown on civil society, leading to the shutdown of dozens of local and international Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs). The shrinking of civil society space in Pakistan has continued for several years and remains unabated even after a change of government in 2018.
