Jean Claude Nkundwa

Jean Claude Nkundwa is a current MA student at the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding at Eastern Mennonite University, in Harrisonburg Virginia. Before going to EMU, Jean Claude was a community organiser. He worked with different local organisations for peace and reconciliation in Burundi, developing peace committees in the rural area and in university campuses. In 2004-2005, he took part in the “Debt cancellation campaign" with other young Africans, with the support of the American Friends Service Committee. His experience in advocacy for Burundi in the House of Congress and in different American organisations increased his awareness of the great need to engage the international community for sustainable peace in Burundi and in the Great Lakes Region. In completion of his Peace studies, Jean Claude is writing a thesis entitled: "The Role of Civil Society in Post war Contexts, the case study of Burundi".
