"You start something and it seeps out” – Ahavoli Organisational Slogan

Family counselling and working with Internally Displaced People (IDPs) are the main focus areas of the organisation. Based in a part of Sri Lanka that has been hugely affected by fighting, the organisation believes that implementing training programmes, workshops and counselling programmes are the most effective activities they can do to address peace and conflict issues in Jaffna Peninsula.

According to Ahavoli, families are the smallest social unit. This small social unit can contribute much to the society and country. The organisation believes peace should be started from the smallest icon for it to be sustainable. Hence the organisation works with communities, with the focus on families for peacebuilding, non-violent communication and counselling.

Ahavoli also train people in the development of Non-Violent Communication (NVC) skills.
