Last updated: August 2015

The GUU Foundation Community Based Rehabilitation (GUFO) was established in 1996 as a non-profit organisation to assist war-affected people in Northern Uganda. GUFO commenced operations by providing protection and humanitarian assistance to Sudanese refugees and internally displaced persons from 1997.

GUFO’s objective is to provide information, training and legal support to enable IDPs and returnees to make informed decisions with respect to property rights, voluntary return and local integration.

The organisation contributed to the successful repatriation of over 50,000 South Sudanese refugees following the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and independence for South Sudan.
