NABOLOK is a voluntary non-government organization of Bangladesh that works predominantly in Khulna, Satkhira and Bagerhat. Nabolok was established in 1986 to uphold the philosophy of ensuring people's rights, gender equality, participatory development efforts, human dignity, peace & harmony as well as innovation, freedom & democracy.
Nabolok has the vision of a poverty free prosperous society as well as a mission to promote, protect and support self- reliant people by creating participatory development for the population.
Nabolok has selected a number of thematic areas to focus intensively on such as climate change adaptation and enhancing resilience to hazards; water, sanitation & hygiene (WaSH) promotion; disaster management and risk reduction; natural resource management and environmental conservation; poverty reduction; sustainable agricultural practices; health rights promotion; child protection; institution building; education; gender equality; good governance, democracy and human rights; human resource development.
Nabolok reached and influenced both urban and rural areas with anti-violence messages. In occasions where they incorporated an element of cultural programming (live theater, dance and song performances, youth-led radio shows, etc.) they were highly successful in mobilizing and motivating the general public around the issue of non-violence. These types of culturally-rooted programs were particularly effective at drawing in people of all ages and genders and at communicating the complex and sensitive issues of political and communal violence.
