Women and Girl-child Rescue and Development Initiative (WGRDI) Is a non profit making Organization established in the year 2013 and registered in December 2015.The organization is  registered  with the Corporate Affairs Commission  (CAC) with the registration number CAC/IT/NO 83603 and is located in Jos Plateau State, Nigeria. We work in the area of grassroots development, human rights and peace building. Our organization works to empower women and girls to effectively use their inner strength and potentials to become useful, productive and to make positive impact in their communities, contributing towards peace building and national development in Nigeria.

The organisation has deep interest in empowering community groups with the capacity  to achieve peace and development at different levels. This is done through  proper assessment of the social empowerment needs of communities. We approach development and peace building through conflict sensitive methods at various levels of interventions. WGRDI is proactive and strategic through its result oriented initiative to create impact in communities in the area of peace education, gender based violence, conflict resolution and management, skill acquisition, economic empowerment and reproductive health.

WGRDI is also regular in conducting apt context and content analyses of its interventions to target groups and stakeholders, to effective outreach and benefit to the larger society. We have trained and experienced project officers, who are capable of implementing projects effectively. Our programs focuses on care for widows, orphans and children in difficult circumstances, victims of terrorism and humanitarian works. In responding to the challenges of women and girl child abuse in Nigeria, we have been working extensively through awareness campaigns, media chats,rallies,workshops, lectures, seminars, advocacy and policy implementation in Nigeria.

As a reward for the work conducted in the field of peace building and conflict resolution in Plateau State, the organisation was recognized by the Heavenly Culture World Peace Restoration of Light (HWPL) South Korea, as a member of the Peace Advocacy Committee, for the implementation of the international law on the cessation of war and achievement of world peace. We were awarded a certificate of appointment which qualified us to be a member of the International Women's Peace Group (IWPG) South Korea. WGRDI is also an affiliate of IWPG In Nigeria.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is raising citizens (women and girls) from our local communities who will rise up to the challenges facing the in all levels in the society.

OBJECTIVES

 To provide care education shelter and feeding for widows orphans, vulnerable and out of school children.

To develop the leadership capacities of women to be able to participate in all development processes.

To develop talents and build skills among women, children and young people in typical rural communities.

To enhance economic self reliance of women through skills training, micro credit and micro finance scheme. 

To promote the sexual and reproductive health and rights and women and young people through comprehensive sexuality/family life education and service delivery.

To provide access to food,education, psycho-social medical/legal services and follow ups to women and girls who are victims of domestic and sexual abuse.

To work through advocacy and community dialogue to promote peaceful co-existence and reconciliation among communities.

To work through advocacy,awareness campaign   and rallies for prevention of gender based violence.

To reduce maternal and child mortality through safe motherhood and family planing education and services.
